Writing Tip #1

I hope you didn’t think I forgot about you guys! I decided, instead of doing a singular Sunday post, I would do a week’s worth of writing tips – one a day!

Today’s tip is super important. A writer should read. Read everything and anything that interests you – read things that challenge your perspective – read things that expand your knowledge and perspective – the important thing is to read.

“Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write.” – William Faulkner

It’s equally important to read selections from several different writers as well (different genres help but aren’t necessary, in my opinion) so that you can see a variety of writing styles.

“If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.” – Stephen King

Enjoyed my tip? Don’t forget to like, share, and comment, everyone!
