0.0 MHz: Movie Review

Good news: my novella is complete and I will be sending it out to publishers soon! This is a great achievement for me because I have mainly written short fiction. If this were accepted somewhere, it would be my debut novella. That's a pretty amazing feeling and next step would be a novel, I suppose! Though that's rather intimidating.
Now to the review -- as per usual, I have kept the review spoiler free.
The Movie
Directed by Sun-Dong Yoo, 0.0MHz is a 2019 Korean horror film about a group of university students who go to an abandoned house in a very remote village. The university students (played by Jung Eun-Ji, Lee Sung-Yeol, Choi Yoon-Young, Shin Joo-Hwan, and Jung Won-Chang) are part of a paranormal investigation club and their goal is to prove the existence of ghosts using various rituals and utilizing a special brain frequency, hence the movie title. It works horrifically well and they race to banish the murderous ghost before they all end up dead.
The Review
This is such a fun movie! I definitely would have been part of that paranormal investigation club if I could have in university! To me, it really did justify why they would be trying so hard to get evidence of the ghost, despite any possible danger, and also why they all stuck around despite signs of haunting. A lot of haunted house stories, you wonder why the family stays or why the protagonists ignore all the obvious warnings. In this movie, it made sense.
Regular readers will, of course, know that I have a soft spot for haunted house/ghost movies and this one definitely scratched that itch. It's spooky, it's violent, it's tense. I also really liked the idea of a "ghost" brain frequency. The idea that you're susceptible to the influence of spirits when your brain activity reaches a certain point as you're asleep is terrifying.
All in all, as long as you're not expecting more than a straightforward ghost/possession movie, you won't be disappointed picking this film for your movie night!
I also really enjoy watching foreign horror films because it gives me a break from typical Hollywood tropes. Although it does make my need to travel flare up!
