WIP - A Cosmic Space Horror
Hello lovelies!
It has been a while and I apologize for that. I plan on putting up a poll soon for a reader's choice micro fiction on my Facebook, so check that out (and follow me if you haven't already) if you want to influence what my micro fiction will be about! I will publish the micro fiction on Monday for you to read and, of course, some part of it will be chosen by you!
Onwards!
Yes, it has been a while. I am happy to say that I have not been neglecting my writing -- the opposite in fact! I had started something that I thought would be a short space cosmic horror fiction but it quickly grew out of control.
The funny thing is that, sometimes, when I think I'll be writing a short piece I hand write it rather than type it. This is for two reasons:
I write faster than I can type so it is easier to keep up with my thoughts if I write.
I tend to be a bit more comfortable writing because I can be lying down or curled up, typing requires you to leave room for the laptop.
However, I try to only write shorter fiction because it can take me a while to type those stories up.
Fun fact: I am not a good typist. I type with two fingers on each hand like I am a T-Rex (see reference picture above.) I can get a good speed on while I am just typing things off the top of my head, but my speed drastically decreases when I am forced to refer to source material (I know what you are asking and no, I need to look at the keyboard when I type. I haven't memorized the keys. SIGH. Don't judge.)(Second aside, I can also hear you asking that question and no, I can't get someone else to type it because my handwriting is so messy, it almost looks like Elvish.)
Well, guess what? This story was meant to be short but became a beast. I am not even done writing it yet. I had to switch to typing because my last journal ran out of pages. Yes. Ran out of pages. I counted and I have 170 journal pages (single spaced) to type before I can move on to finishing the story.
Pretty sure this thing has moved onto novella territory.Of course, that is a great thing for someone who has been trying to break into writing longer fiction -- and I also love this fiction's plot and premise!
Space horror is one of my favourite niche genres. I loved Alien, Aliens, Event Horizon and the Dead Space games. All of it amazing! So it's a good feeling to think I may soon be adding something to that genre -- if it gets published, of course!
So bear me and my slow T-Rex typing. I will be posting a micro-fiction on Monday so keep an eye out for that and, if you want to vote on it, make sure to follow me on Facebook!
