Reviews of The Whale Hunts

Amazing news! My short story, "The Whale Hunts" received some favourable reviews recently!

This piece of fiction was published in the Negative Space anthology by Dark Peninsula Press.

In the near future, the North American coast lines are gone, New York has sunk, and criminals are forced to hunt upon the Black Sea, searching for a dark leviathan that is slowly consuming the entire ocean.

The first review was on Goodreads and called out "The Whale Hunts" as one of the reader's favourite tales in the anthology.

The second review was from Brennan Lafaro and was a little like a -- ahem -- backhanded compliment, I guess?

“The Whale Hunts” by P.L. McMillan – I’m not sure why, but I didn’t expect to like this one. Maybe it’s the distant future, sci-fi elements, but either way, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this cosmic version of Moby Dick.

- Brennan Lafaro's blog post

Upside, he named my story as among his favourites though! I guess I am just proud I managed to make him enjoy "The Whale Hunts" despite his reservations!

Thank you to both those reviewers, I always appreciate hearing back about my stories!

x P.L. McMillan
